Alanna McIntyre

Alanna McIntyre | Sommelier/Tour Coordinator

Alanna McIntyre is By the Glass’ tour coordinator and our internal specialist on all things Italian. Alanna is the resident sommelier at Bishop's Cellar, where she coordinates their wine education program and teaches wine appreciation courses, wine tasting seminars, hosts private and corporate events. Alanna has a fun, open and unpretentious approach to wine.

Her interest in languages and the arts led her to Spain and Italy where she was first introduced to the culture of wine and food and attended her first formal wine tasting. Upon returning to Nova Scotia, Alanna helped her father establish a twelve acre vineyard in the Annapolis Valley. Her thirst for wine knowledge led her to enrol in the International Sommelier Guild's certification program, and in 2002 she graduated with top marks as a certified sommelier. She then returned to Italy and remained there for the next four years, where she cultivated her passion for Italian food, wine and "la dolce vita".

Alanna currently resides in Halifax and travels vicariously through the wines she tastes daily.
